Earthquake of magnitude 5.2 strikes Pakistan's northern region.

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck northern Pakistan in the early hours of Friday, November 21, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The tremors were felt around 3:09 AM (2:39 AM local time), rattling several areas across the country’s northern belt.

The NCS located the epicentre at 36.12°N and 71.51°E, with a depth of 135 kilometres. This places the quake in a mountainous area near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, a region known for frequent seismic disturbances due to active tectonic plates.

Despite the moderate magnitude, the quake’s significant depth likely reduced its impact on the surface. Deeper earthquakes typically lose much of their energy before reaching populated areas, resulting in milder shaking compared to shallow quakes. As of now, there are no confirmed reports of casualties or damage.
