Billionaire Musk shared that one of his sons with Zilis has the middle name Sekhar, chosen in honour of Indian-American physicist and Nobel laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.

Elon Musk has revealed that his partner, Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, has Indian roots, describing her as “half-Indian” during a recent conversation on investor Nikhil Kamath’s podcast. The Tesla and SpaceX chief also shared that one of their sons carries the middle name “Sekhar,” chosen in honour of renowned Indian-American astrophysicist and Nobel laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.

Musk noted that Zilis was adopted as an infant and grew up in Canada, but her biological ancestry traces back to India. Zilis, who joined Neuralink in 2017, currently serves as the company’s Director of Operations and Special Projects.

During the discussion, Musk also spoke about the couple’s family life. He and Zilis share four children – twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia, and son Seldon Lycurgus – a fact that has drawn public interest amid Musk’s frequent comments on population growth and parenthood.

Musk went on to praise the contribution of Indian professionals to the United States, saying the country has “benefited immensely” from the talent and innovation of the Indian diaspora.
