Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam will headline the film as Mohd Ahmed Khan and Shah Bano Begum, engaging in a powerful and intense courtroom showdown.

Actor Emraan Hashmi has clarified that his upcoming film ‘Haq’, which draws inspiration from the Shah Bano case, is not intended to portray Muslims negatively.

Speaking about the film, Hashmi said, “As a liberal Muslim, I had no issue with the film’s viewpoint. It doesn’t malign any community — if it did, I wouldn’t have agreed to do it.”

The actor, who plays Mohammed Ahmed Khan, stars alongside Yami Gautam, who essays the role of Shah Bano Begum. Hashmi explained that the film explores the complex intersection of faith, justice, and women’s rights, aiming to encourage thoughtful discussion rather than controversy.

Directed by Suparn S. Varma, Haq also features Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady in key roles. The film is slated for release on November 7, 2025.
