Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concerns over the current situation in the Middle East

PM Narendra Modi on Sunday, June 22, spoke to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian about the US airstrikes on three key nuclear sites, expressing deep concerns over the developments in the Middle East and called for immediate de-escalation in hostilities.

PM Modi, in call with the Iranian President, also reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, adding that dialogue and diplomacy are way forward. The PM called for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability in the region rocked by missile attacks and strikes.

“We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability,” PM Modi wrote on X after the call.

PM Modi’s call to the Iranian President comes hours after the US bombed its three key nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. In an address to the nation, Trump called the strikes a “spectacular military success” and warned of more strikes if Iran retaliated. He said the mission had achieved its primary goal: the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities.
