A tragic incident struck Poland when a Polish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during rehearsals for an upcoming airshow in Radom, central Poland, claiming the life of a Polish Army pilot. Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed the news, calling it a “great loss for the Air Force” and expressing deep grief over the accident.
A viral video captured the jet attempting a barrel-roll manoeuvre before it suddenly lost control, crashing to the ground and erupting into a massive fireball. The aircraft, engulfed in flames, skidded along the runway for several meters. Fortunately, no bystanders were injured in the incident, according to the General Command of the Armed Forces.
The crash occurred at around 1730 GMT (11 pm IST) and involved an aircraft from the 31st Tactical Air Base near Poznan. In the wake of the tragedy, authorities announced the cancellation of AirSHOW Radom 2025, which had been scheduled for this weekend.
