Mohammad Umar, a suspected member of the Faridabad terror module, worked as a doctor at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad.

A CCTV image showing the suspected driver of the Hyundai i10 that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 11 has surfaced. The blast killed eight people and left over 20 injured, triggering a massive security alert across the Capital.

Suspect Identified as Faridabad Doctor Linked to Terror Module

Sources identified the suspect as Mohammad Umar, a doctor at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad. Umar is allegedly associated with a local terror module and is believed to have close links with Adeel Ahmad Rather, a former senior resident doctor at GMC Anantnag who was arrested last week.

Investigators said Rather’s interrogation led to a series of raids in Faridabad, during which Umar’s name surfaced. CCTV footage shows a man resembling Umar driving the white Hyundai i10 that was later destroyed in the blast.

Vehicle Parked for Over Three Hours Before Explosion

According to CCTV timestamps, the car entered the parking area near Sunehri Masjid, close to the Red Fort, around 3:19 pm and remained parked until 6:48 pm. Just minutes later, at approximately 6:52 pm, the vehicle exploded, engulfing the area in flames as crowds gathered in the evening rush.

Preliminary forensic analysis indicates the use of an ammonium nitrate fuel oil (ANFO)-based explosive. Investigators suspect the device was remotely detonated or triggered by a timer mechanism.

Car Traced Through Multiple Owners

Police have traced the car’s ownership history. Initially registered to a Mohammad Salman, the vehicle changed hands several times through used-car dealers in Faridabad before allegedly being purchased by Umar. Authorities are now conducting DNA tests on remains found inside the car to confirm who was driving at the time of the explosion.

Victims Yet to Be Identified

Out of the nine bodies recovered from the site, only two have been identified so far. Forensic teams are conducting DNA profiling to ascertain the identities of the remaining victims.

Special Cell Leads Probe Under UAPA

The Delhi Police Special Cell has registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosive Substances Act, along with charges of murder and attempt to murder.

Security has been tightened across Delhi, particularly around heritage sites and crowded markets such as Chandni Chowk and Daryaganj, which have been temporarily closed as a precaution.

Nationwide Alert Issued

Intelligence agencies have issued alerts to multiple states, warning of possible coordinated activities linked to the Faridabad module. Additional teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are expected to join the probe.
