The five accused—Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Nandeswar Bora, and Paresh Baishya.

Five of the seven accused in the Zubeen Garg death case were produced before CJM court in Guwahati on Wednesday, October 15, Assam Police officials confirmed. All seven were arrested following the death of the popular Assamese singer on September 19, 2025.

SIT Chief and Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta said that the police custody of the five accused— including Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma—had ended, and they were accordingly produced before the court. “The custody of the remaining two accused will conclude the day after tomorrow,” he added.

Gupta also provided updates on the investigation, noting that statements of witnesses were being recorded at the CID office, with a total of 10 witnesses having appeared so far. He confirmed that communication had been received regarding officers visiting Singapore for the investigation, describing it as a standard process. He further clarified, “We are not seeking further remand at this stage; if future remand is required based on new facts, we will request it.” Security arrangements outside the CID office in Guwahati were reportedly tightened during the court proceedings.
