Assamese artist Santanu Hazarika teams up with Konami for eFootball jersey.

Assamese visual artist Santanu Hazarika has collaborated with Japanese gaming giant Konami for its flagship football game, eFootball. As part of a global campaign running from August to October 2025, Hazarika designed a jersey inspired by Assamese culture, which was unveiled on Independence Day. The design has gained international attention, with Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. promoting it, and the campaign will culminate with a fan meet-and-greet in Mumbai in December.

The jersey draws inspiration from the Gamusa, a traditional Assamese cloth known for its white base and red woven patterns, symbolising identity and pride in Assam. Hazarika has blended these motifs with elements of heavy metal culture, creating a design that merges tradition with contemporary style.

Speaking about the jersey, Hazarika said it pays tribute to his childhood in Assam, where football and the Gamusa were ever-present. The wave pattern in the design represents the Brahmaputra, reflecting both its power and cultural significance. The campaign also features cricketer KL Rahul and footballers Sunil Chhetri and Nitish Kumar Reddy, with fans able to access exclusive in-game content and meet the players and creators at the December event.
