Former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar was cremated with full state honours in Baramati on Thursday, January 29, as political leaders, family members, and thousands of supporters gathered to bid him a final farewell.
Pawar’s body, draped in the national flag, was brought from his native village Katewadi to Baramati for the last rites. His sons, Parth Pawar and Jay Pawar, lit the funeral pyre and performed the cremation rituals amid a solemn atmosphere.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior leaders paid their respects, while police and state officials accorded ceremonial honours as the cortege moved through the town. Ajit Pawar, 66, died on Wednesday morning when a chartered Learjet crashed near the Baramati airstrip, killing all five people on board, including two pilots, a flight attendant, and his personal security officer.
