In a move aimed at streamlining toll payments and enhancing road travel convenience, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced the launch of an annual FASTag-based highway travel pass priced at Rs 3,000. The new pass, set to be rolled out from August 15, was announced by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
“In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at Rs 3,000, effective from 15th August 2025,” Gadkari wrote on X.
The annual pass will be applicable exclusively to non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips — whichever comes first — the pass is designed to provide a seamless, cost-effective, and hassle-free travel experience across India’s national highways.
“A dedicated link for activation and renewal of the pass will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH),” Gadkari said.
The Union Minister highlighted that the initiative addresses long-standing concerns about toll plazas located within a 60-kilometre range. “The Annual Pass simplifies toll payments by offering a single, affordable solution that reduces wait times, eases congestion, and minimizes disputes at toll plazas,” he said.
Gadkari emphasized that the move is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of India’s highway infrastructure. “We consider National Highways as national assets. Efforts have been made to enhance construction quality and increase transparency, including holding contractors accountable,” he added, referencing a recent stakeholder consultation workshop organized by NHAI.
The initiative is expected to benefit millions of private vehicle owners, offering them a smoother and faster commuting experience across the country.
