US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with US President Donald Trump on Saturday, October 11, discussing Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and praising Trump’s peace efforts in the Middle East. Zelenskyy suggested that if conflicts can be resolved in one region, “surely other wars can be stopped as well—including the Russian war,” urging Trump to help broker peace in Ukraine.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy described the conversation as “very positive and productive,” congratulating Trump on his Middle East achievements. He highlighted the recent Russian strikes on Kyiv’s energy system and expressed appreciation for Trump’s willingness to support Ukraine.

The leaders also explored opportunities to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, with Zelenskyy noting that both sides are working on concrete agreements to enhance the country’s security. “There are good options and solid ideas on how to truly strengthen us,” he said.

Relations between the two leaders have improved significantly since their tense White House meeting in February. Trump has called Zelenskyy a “brave man” and reaffirmed his support for Ukraine, praising the country’s resistance against the ongoing Russian invasion.
