PM Narendra Modi on Friday, August 15, hoisted the national flag from the historic ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi, marking the beginning of India’s Independence Day celebrations. The event drew attention across the nation as the Prime Minister addressed the country from the iconic fort, continuing a tradition that has been followed by Indian leaders since 1947.

Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, Indian Air Force helicopters flew over the Red Fort, showering flower petals from the skies.
