25% tariff already imposed, more hikes expected within 24 hours

US President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of India over its continued oil trade with Russia, threatening to impose additional tariffs within the next 24 hours.

In a recent interview with CNBC, Trump stated, “India has not been a good trading partner. They do a lot of business with us, but we don’t do enough with them. We agreed on a 25 percent tariff, but I’m likely to raise that significantly soon because they’re purchasing Russian oil and helping to fund the war machine.”

This warning follows his earlier remarks branding both New Delhi and Moscow as “dead economies.” Trump had already implemented a 25% tariff on Indian goods, and his latest comments suggest a further escalation in trade tensions, linking his decision to India’s energy ties with Russia.
