Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that India will begin manufacturing engines for fifth-generation fighter jets in collaboration with French aerospace giant Safran. Speaking at the ‘Economic Times World Leaders’ Forum’ in New Delhi, Singh highlighted that the country has already taken significant steps towards developing its own fifth-generation fighter aircraft, marking a milestone in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defence technology.

Emphasizing the importance of indigenous capability, Singh said that the upcoming collaboration with Safran would pave the way for producing advanced fighter jet engines within India. “We are about to start engine manufacturing work in India with the French company Safran,” he noted, adding that the initiative would strengthen India’s technological base while reducing dependence on imports.

At the same event, Singh invited global companies and investors to participate in India’s expanding defence manufacturing sector. He assured foreign partners of smooth processes, clearances, and necessary support, underlining that India’s defence ecosystem is now one of the most vibrant and promising investment destinations worldwide.
