India is set to resume issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens from July 24, marking the first time in five years that such visas will be granted. The move comes as both countries work to improve their strained bilateral relations. The update was confirmed by the Indian Embassy in Beijing and reported by Reuters.
The embassy’s announcement, shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo and amplified by Global Times, outlines the process for applicants. Chinese citizens must fill out the online visa application form, print it, schedule an appointment online, and submit the completed form along with their passport and supporting documents at the Indian Visa Application Center.
This step signals a thaw in ties between the two nations and a potential revival of people-to-people exchanges and tourism. The restoration of tourist visa services is seen as a positive gesture toward strengthening diplomatic engagement and rebuilding mutual trust.
