India vs Pakistan fixture in the World Championship of Legends has been cancelled after widespread outrage.

The organisers of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) have officially announced the cancellation of the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match, which was set to take place on Sunday, July 20 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The match, scheduled to begin at 9 PM IST, has been called off, with the organisers issuing a public apology to fans for the disappointment caused.

In a statement shared on their official X handle, WCL explained that the idea behind scheduling the India-Pakistan clash was inspired by a recent friendly volleyball match between the two nations. The aim, they said, was to bring joy and create positive memories for fans. However, they acknowledged that the decision unintentionally hurt the sentiments of many and caused discomfort to some Indian cricket legends.

The cancellation follows reports that several Indian players, including Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, had declined to participate in the match. Their withdrawal further fueled speculation before the official confirmation was made by the organisers.
