The fans of the singer are expressing concern, flooding social media with good wishes for his speedy recovery

Pawandeep Rajan, the winner of Indian Idol Season 12, was seriously injured in a car accident on National Highway 9 near Gajraula in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district around 3 a.m. on May 5. He was travelling from his hometown in Champawat, Uttarakhand, to Delhi for a scheduled performance when the accident occurred.

According to Akhilesh Pradhan, in-charge of the Gajraula police station, the singer’s MG Hector SUV collided with a stationary Eicher Canter truck. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver, Rahul Singh, may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash.

Pawandeep sustained multiple injuries, including fractures in both legs and a head injury. He, along with his friend Ajay Mehra and driver Rahul Singh – both of whom were also seriously injured – was initially taken to a private hospital for first aid. All three were later shifted to Fortis Hospital in Noida for advanced treatment. Pawandeep is currently under the care of the orthopaedic team.

Pawandeep shot to fame after winning Indian Idol in 2021, where he triumphed over strong finalists including Arunita Kanjilal, Mohd Danish, Sayli Kamble, Nihal Tauro, and Shanmukha Priya. Prior to that, he had also won The Voice India in 2015. A native of Uttarakhand’s Champawat district, he has earned a dedicated fan base for his soulful singing.

Following the news of the accident, fans and fellow musicians have taken to social media to send prayers and messages of support, wishing him a swift and full recovery.
