Prices of coffee are ruling at record levels following adverse-weather-induced supply crunch in the largest producing countries of Brazil and Vietnam

India’s coffee exports have surged by more than 40 percent during the April-February period of the current financial year, exceeding $1.54 billion compared to $1.10 billion in the same timeframe last year, driven by increasing global prices.

In February alone, the value of shipments rose by 22 percent, reaching $178.68 million, up from $146.08 million, according to the latest data from the Commerce Ministry.

In Rupee terms, the exports were up 43.37 per cent at Rs 13004.75 crore during April-Feb 2024-25 over corresponding last year’s Rs 9070 crore.

India is the seventh largest producer and the fifth largest exporter of coffee in the world. Prices of coffee are ruling at record levels following adverse weather induced supply crunch in the largest producing countries of Brazil and Vietnam. India exports over two thirds of the over 3.5 lakh tonnes produced in the country.
