In a significant milestone for India’s semiconductor ambitions, a telecom system powered by domestically manufactured chips has been awarded the TEC (Telecommunication Engineering Center) certification. The achievement marks a crucial step toward strengthening the country’s self-reliance in advanced technology.
The announcement was made by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw through a post on X, where he described the development as a “big leap for India’s semiconductor story.” He noted that, for the first time, a telecom system running entirely on ‘Made in India’ chips has successfully cleared all standards and quality tests required for certification.
The TEC certification serves as an official approval from the Telecommunication Engineering Center, which functions under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in the Ministry of Communications. It validates compliance with stringent standards, ensuring reliability and quality in telecom infrastructure.
