The escalation has heightened tensions throughout the Middle East, with potential implications for international security

The conflict between Iran and Israel has intensified sharply following a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities. In retaliation, Iran launched over 100 drones toward Israeli territory, marking a significant escalation in hostilities between the two countries.

Israel’s military operation, named Operation Rising Lion, involved more than 200 fighter jets striking approximately 100 targets across Iran. The attacks focused on key military sites and nuclear facilities, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials, including Major General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and prominent nuclear scientists Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi and Fereydoun Abbasi.

In response, Iran deployed over 100 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into Israeli airspace. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported active efforts to intercept the incoming drones. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemned the Israeli strikes as a “crime” and warned that Israel would face a “bitter and painful fate” as a consequence.

Tehran confirmed that the airstrikes injured at least 95 people across 12 provinces, including civilians such as women and children. Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesperson for Iran’s national emergency services, said the injured were receiving treatment at medical centers in the affected areas, underscoring the widespread humanitarian impact.

The escalation has heightened tensions throughout the Middle East, with potential implications for international security. The United States expressed concern over the developing conflict, with President Donald Trump urging Iran to engage in negotiations to de-escalate tensions. The crisis has also led to the closure of airspace in Iran, Israel, and Iraq, disrupting regional travel and commerce.

As the situation continues to evolve, the international community remains vigilant, monitoring for further escalation or possible efforts toward resolution.
