Fadnavis invited Uddhav Thackeray to join the ruling side

In a moment that drew chuckles in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended a tongue-in-cheek invitation to his predecessor, Uddhav Thackeray, to join the ruling alliance. The light-hearted jab came during the farewell of Ambadas Danve, the outgoing Leader of Opposition and a senior member of Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) faction.

With Thackeray seated in the House, Fadnavis looked his way and remarked, “Look Uddhav-ji, there is no scope of us going to the Opposition till 2029. But if you want to come over here, then it can be considered—it depends on you.” The comment sparked laughter among members, though Thackeray maintained a stoic silence in response.

Later, when reporters sought his reaction, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief played down the remark. “Let it go. Some things should be taken on a lighter note,” he said, dismissing the comment with characteristic restraint. The exchange, while casual, hinted at the ongoing undercurrents in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
