The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will resume after five years and is scheduled between June and August 2025 via Uttarakhand’s Lipulekh and Sikkim’s Nathu La Passes, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
The selection will be done through a computerised, fair, random and gender-balanced process. Five batches of 50 pilgrims each will travel via Lipulekh Pass and 10 batches of 50 pilgrims each will go through Nathu La Pass.
Since 2015, the application and selection process has been fully computerised. Applicants are advised to use the feedback options on the website for any queries or suggestions instead of sending letters or faxes.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is resuming after discussions between India and China. Tensions following the 2020 Galwan clash and the Covid-19 pandemic had stalled the pilgrimage. However, after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan in October 2024, relations have improved.
