Filmmaker Karan Johar has been making headlines for his noticeable transformation and significant weight loss over the past year. Amid speculation that he may have used weight-loss drugs, particularly Ozempic, Karan has once again clarified that his results are the product of discipline, a healthy lifestyle, and consistent effort.
During an Instagram Live session, the director spoke candidly about his journey, revealing that it all began when he discovered he needed to address certain imbalances in his blood levels. This health scare pushed him to adopt a more conscious and structured approach to his wellness.
Karan shared that he’s been following a strict one-meal-a-day diet and has incorporated regular physical activity into his routine. To stay fit and active, he enjoys playing paddleball and swimming. He emphasized that these lifestyle changes – not shortcuts – have been key to his transformation.
This isn’t the first time the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director has addressed questions about his weight loss. At the IIFA Digital Awards green carpet in March, he was asked about the secret behind his slimmer physique. His response was simple: “It’s all about being healthy – eating right, exercising, and doing what it takes to feel and look your best.” When asked to share specifics of his routine, Karan cheekily replied, “If I do that, I’ll be giving away my secret!”
Rumors linking him to Ozempic – a diabetes drug that’s gained popularity for aiding rapid weight loss – surfaced again after a social media post referenced Maheep Kapoor’s comments from the Netflix series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. The post suggested that Maheep should call out Karan as well.
Karan responded directly on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Being healthy, eating right, and reinventing your own nutritional journey! And Ozempic gets the credit???” He even tagged Maheep Kapoor, asking, “Did you mean me???”
The 52-year-old director recently made his much-anticipated return to directing with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023, marking his comeback after a seven-year hiatus.
