Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha was suspended from the party on Tuesday, September 2, a day after she made sensational allegations against her cousins, former irrigation minister T Harish Rao and ex-MP J Santosh Kumar. The decision, announced through an official statement, was taken by party president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), who said her remarks and recent conduct were against the policies and principles of the BRS.
Kavitha had triggered internal turmoil in the party with her outspoken comments, openly accusing senior leaders of damaging her father KCR’s reputation. She alleged that certain leaders had been responsible for attaching a “corruption tag” to the BRS chief, thereby weakening both his image and the party’s credibility.
Specifically, Kavitha blamed Harish Rao and former MP Megha Krishna Reddy for maligning KCR, while also accusing Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar of hatching conspiracies to sideline her within the party. These explosive charges deepened existing rifts in BRS and eventually led to her suspension.
