KL Rahul achieved a major career milestone on Day 2 of the first Test against South Africa, becoming the 18th Indian cricketer to cross 4,000 Test runs. The landmark came with a boundary off Marco Jansen at Eden Gardens.
Rahul reached the milestone in 115 innings, more than a decade after making his Test debut in 2014. His achievement places him alongside some of India’s greatest Test batters, including Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag.
The Indian opener continues to be a key figure in the Test lineup, with this milestone further cementing his stature in the longest format.
