Star Indian batter KL Rahul etched his name into the history books once again by becoming only the second Indian to score multiple Test centuries at Lord’s. On Day 3 of the ongoing third Test against England, Rahul brought up his second ton at the iconic venue, joining the legendary Dilip Vengsarkar in an exclusive club. Vengsarkar holds the record for most Test centuries by a visiting batter at Lord’s, with three in successive matches.
This latest century was Rahul’s tenth in Test cricket and his fourth in England, further strengthening his record as the Indian opener with the most Test hundreds on English soil. Resuming Day 3 on an overnight score of 53, Rahul played a composed and steady innings, allowing Rishabh Pant to take the early initiative. He soon found rhythm, dispatching Chris Woakes to the boundary and then hitting Brydon Carse for three consecutive fours in the following over.
As the session progressed, Rahul kept the scoreboard ticking and approached his century with elegant strokeplay, particularly against Carse. Just before lunch, he found himself on 98, but a misjudged attempt to retain the strike led to an unfortunate run out of Rishabh Pant for 74. Despite the mix-up, Rahul soon brought up his hundred, reinforcing his stature as one of India’s premier Test batters abroad.
