A major accident occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Tuesday, October 7, night when a truck carrying LPG cylinders caught fire after colliding with a tanker, police said. The impact led to multiple explosions as gas cylinders began to burst, scattering debris several meters away. The flames and blasts were visible and audible from several kilometres.
According to IG Jaipur Rahul Prakash, two to three people, including the tanker driver, sustained injuries in the incident. CMHO Jaipur-I Ravi Shekhawat stated that the injured driver was taken to a nearby hospital for primary treatment. Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, who visited the site on Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s instructions, confirmed that the situation was under control and no fatalities had been reported so far.
Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene near Dudu, and traffic movement on the highway was temporarily suspended. Bairwa told reporters that the drivers and cleaners of the vehicles involved were missing, and efforts were underway by the police and administration to trace them.
