Maharashtra local body elections result 2025 date postponed

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday, December 2, ruled that the counting of votes for the Maharashtra local body elections 2025 will now be held on December 21, postponing it from the earlier scheduled date of December 3. The ruling affects a total of 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats.

The court order comes amid growing tensions over the civic body elections. The Maharashtra State Election Commission had earlier postponed voting in 24 municipal councils (20) and nagar panchayats (4) after detecting widespread irregularities. These elections, initially scheduled for today, have now been rescheduled to December 20.

With the latest ruling, the counting of votes for the combined 288 municipal councils and nagar panchayats will take place on December 21, bringing clarity to the electoral timeline in the state after recent disruptions.
