A Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs 10 lakh was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa, officials confirmed on Sunday, September 7. The gunfight broke out in the Saranda forest under Goilkera police station in West Singhbhum district, where the rebel, identified as Amit Hasda alias Aaptan, was neutralised, Superintendent of Police Paras Rana said.
Security personnel recovered an SLR rifle, explosives, and other weapons from the site. Following the encounter, forces launched a large-scale search operation across the forest to track down additional Maoist hideouts and prevent further insurgent activity in the region.
The incident comes just days after two policemen were killed and another critically injured in an intense clash with members of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) in Palamu district. Investigations into the Chaibasa encounter are ongoing, with authorities monitoring the situation closely.
