The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to be held from July 21 to August 12, 2025, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. Speaking on Wednesday, June 4, Rijiju confirmed that a proposal to summon the House has been sent to the President of India.
This will be the first session of Parliament since the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead. The session is expected to see intense discussions, including on Operation Sindoor – a military response targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack.
Responding to queries about the Opposition’s demand for a debate on these developments, Rijiju said that all issues can be discussed during the session, as permitted under parliamentary rules.
Sources also revealed that the Minister has initiated outreach to several Opposition leaders, including representatives from the Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, in connection with the impeachment proceedings against Justice Yashwant Varma.
