US President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk reignited their ongoing feud, this time over a proposed government spending bill that Trump has praised as ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’ The clash marks a new escalation in their increasingly public dispute, which began when Musk voiced strong opposition to the President’s signature legislation.
As the bill advances through the US Senate, Musk intensified his criticism, even threatening to launch a new political party and cautioning lawmakers against backing the measure.
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” he wrote on X.
With lawmakers set to vote on the bill, Musk accused Republicans of backing “debt slavery” and warned that his proposed political party would target those who support the legislation after campaigning to cut government spending.
“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE,” he wrote. “VOX POPULI VOX DEI 80% voted for a new party,” he claimed.
However, Trump’s response was swift and pointed, suggesting that Musk might have to “go back to South Africa” if not for the billions in government subsidies his companies have received.
“Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one,” Trump wrote on X.
He added, ” Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”
