Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned from his post amid rising unrest across the country.

In a significant political development, Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned following days of intense protests led by the Gen Z movement. The protests erupted after the government imposed a controversial ban on 26 social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, citing non-compliance with registration requirements. The ban sparked widespread outrage, leading to violent demonstrations that resulted in at least 19 deaths and over 100 injuries.

The situation escalated further when protesters set fire to the private residences of Prime Minister Oli and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung. In response to the growing unrest, the Nepal Army Chief, General Ashok Raj Sigdel, reportedly advised Prime Minister Oli to step down to facilitate stabilization efforts.

Prime Minister Oli’s resignation marks a pivotal moment in Nepal’s political landscape, reflecting the growing influence of youth-led activism and public demand for accountability and reform.
