The gross GST collection - the amount before adjusting for refunds - rose by 9.9 per cent in March to Rs 1.96 trillion

The collection of the net goods and services tax (GST) experienced a slight increase of 7.3 percent year-on-year (Y-o-Y), reaching Rs 1.76 trillion in March, as per provisional data published by the government on Monday.

In comparison to February, where the collection stood at Rs 1.62 trillion with an 8.1 percent Y-o-Y growth, the March figures indicate a sequential rise.

In March, the gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection, which represents the total amount prior to any refunds, increased by 9.9 percent, reaching Rs 1.96 trillion.

Domestic refunds experienced a rise of 2.8 percent, whereas the overall refunds, which include those related to imports (up 201.9 percent year-on-year), surged by 41.2 percent to Rs 0.19 trillion.

During the financial year 2024-25 (FY25), from April to March, total refunds saw a year-on-year increase of 16.4 percent, amounting to Rs 2.52 trillion.
