54 people have died and around 400 hospitalised in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia District Hospital in the last three days amid soaring temperatures.

Although there may be other factors contributing to the deaths, doctors reportedly have suggested that extreme heat may also have a role in the rising number of deaths in the hospital.

UP is experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures typically rising to or above 40 degrees.

According to reports, a team from Lucknow is travelling to look into whether there are any diseases that are not currently being recognized.
