PM Narendra Modi on Sunday, April 30, responded to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's 'poisonous snake' remark on him at a rally in Kolar in poll-bound Karnataka, saying that a snake is the charm of Lord Shiva's neck and for him, the people of the country are like Lord Shiva, therefore, he accepts being a snake who stays with them. "The opposition is comparing me with a snake... and asking people to vote for them... but a snake is the charm of Lord Shiva's neck... and for me, the people of the country are as equal to Lord Ishwar and Lord Shiva, therefore, I accept being the snake in the neck of the people who are equal to Lords.... and I know this that the holy land of Karnataka... the people here will strongly respond to Congress through their vote...," said Modi. He further slammed the Congress party and called it a 85% commission party. “The Congress party is 85% commission party, and their own PM admitted it once. They are trying hard to come to power in Karnataka and loot the state. That will not happen as people are aware of the potential of a double engine government. The crowd in Kolar will give both Congress and the JD(S) sleepless nights,” he added. Elections for the 224-member Assembly will take place on May 10 and the votes cast will be counted on May 13.
