The Indian Army rescued more than 1000 tourists, who were stranded in the upper reaches of East Sikkim at Chhangu following a heavy spell of snowfall.

The Indian Army rescued more than 1000 tourists, who were stranded in the upper reaches of East Sikkim at Chhangu following a heavy spell of snowfall on Friday, March 17. 

Severe snowfall in Natu La, Tsomgo (Chhangu) Lake and adjoining areas brought down the temperature to sub-zero levels and impacted the movement of travellers.

As per the official, the rescued tourists included the elderly, women as well as children.
