Virat Kohli got involved in an ugly war of words with Gautam Gambhir and Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq after the IPL 2023 fixture between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 1. The verbal altercation led to both the cricketing stalwarts being handed a 100 per cent fine on their respective match fee, while Naveen-ul-Haq had to give away his 50 per cent match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. On Tuesday, May 2, Kohli took to Instagram and posted a cryptic story, which seemed to be a response to the multiple videos and stories that have been surfacing on social media over the brawl that took place on the field. In the Instagram story, Kohli wrote: “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth (sic).” The RCB won the fixture by 18 runs, with Kohli making 31. It all started when the LSG's Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli exchanged words in the post-match handshake. Later, LSG opener Kyle Mayers was seen talking to Kohli and Gambhir. Kohli seemed to be trying to pacify Gambhir with his hand on Gambhir’s shoulder. However, the conversation soon took an ugly turn and both the cricketers were seen exchanging words and had to be separated by the two sets of players.
