The flood situation in Assam on June 21 worsened, affecting nearly 1.20 lakh people in 20 districts, as Assam State Disaster Management Authority said in a statement. The water levels of several rivers are flowing above the danger level mark, inundating new areas as heavy rainfall continued to lash Assam, other neighbouring states and Bhutan. According to reports, 780 villages under 45 revenue villages of Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, Tamulpur, Udalguri districts were affected by the floods. Notably, the district administration has set up 14 relief camps and 17 distribution centres. Over 2,000 people have taken shelter in relief camps in Baksa, Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Nalbari and Tamulpur district.
