Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ To Hit Gujarat Today, 76 Trains Cancelled

The very severe cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’ is predicted to make landfall near Jakhau Port in Gujarat's Kutch district on Thursday, June 15, evening, as a red alert has been sounded on the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts. 

Over 74,000 people living near the Gujarat coast have been shifted to safer places as a precaution and the state administration has deployed disaster management units for rescue and relief measures.

According to reports, 15 teams of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), 12 of SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), 115 teams of the state road and building department, and 397 of the state electricity department have been deployed in different coastal districts in Gujarat. 

Moreover, the Western Railway has cancelled 76 trains as a precautionary measure to ensure safety of passengers and train operations.
