Manipur Govt Appoints Ex Paramilitary Head As Security Advisor Amid Violence

The Manipur government appointed retired IPS officer and former CRPF chief Kuldiep Singh as its security advisor amid the ongoing violence between tribals and the majority Meitei community in Manipur. 

The officer is from the 1986 class of the Indian Police Service retired in September of last year. He served as the director general of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in addition to his other roles.

The situation in Manipur continues to remain volatile after communal tension erupted in various places of valley districts on May 3 after clashes in Churachandpur district.
