Siddaramaiah has been sworn in as CM of Karnataka for the second term on Saturday, May 20, along with DK Shivakumar as the Deputy CM. The oath ceremony took place at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, where Siddaramaiah took oath in 2013, when he became CM for the first time. Siddaramaiah, was the first CM of Karnataka to serve a complete five-year term in the last 40 years. In fact, he is also the second chief minister to do so in the southern state's history, after Devaraj Urs. The Congress won a decisive mandate in the May 10 Karnataka Assembly election, winning 135 of the 224 seats, ousting the BJP from power.
