Northeast India experienced nearly 16% growth in direct selling, reaching Rs 1854 crore in 2022-23

The North East region is set to achieve even greater success, having experienced a nearly 16% increase in direct selling. All eight sister states reported a rise in sales, contributing an additional Rs 255 crore compared to the previous year, bringing the total to over Rs 1,854 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23, according to the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) during the 2nd Northeast Direct Selling Conference and Expo.

Meghalaya has provided Rs 19 crore out of the total Rs 845 crore contributed by seven states, not including Assam.

The area contributes 8.7% to the national revenue of the direct selling industry (DSI), which totals Rs 21,282 crore, and offers self-employment opportunities to more than 420,000 direct sellers, according to the IDSA.

Furthermore, Assam ranks as the 9th largest direct selling market in India, leading with sales amounting to Rs 1,009 crore.
