Veteran Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has come under heavy criticism from fans after announcing his withdrawal from the ongoing ATP Finals, marking the second consecutive year he has opted out of the season-ending tournament.

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is facing backlash after pulling out of the ATP Finals for the second consecutive year, just days after clinching his 101st career title in Athens.

Djokovic cited a shoulder injury as the reason for his withdrawal, saying he had been struggling with pain during the Athens event and did not want to risk aggravating it ahead of the new season. The Serbian star had defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the final before announcing his decision.

The timing of the withdrawal, however, has drawn criticism from fans and analysts, many questioning why Djokovic waited until after the Athens victory to make the announcement. His absence leaves a major gap in the year-ending tournament in Turin, where he has been a seven-time champion.

Djokovic’s decision also opened the door for Musetti to replace him in the ATP Finals lineup, giving the Italian an unexpected opportunity to play in front of a home crowd.

This marks the second year in a row that the 38-year-old has opted out of the prestigious event, raising questions about his long-term fitness and scheduling choices as he continues to chase records in the twilight of his career.
