Over 2.8 million companies are registered in the nation, with only 65 percent, or slightly more than 1.81 million, currently active, as per official statistics.
Of the companies registered under the Companies Act of 2013, a mere 5,216 are classified as foreign entities, and by the end of January, 63 percent, equating to 3,281 of these companies, were operational.
Recent information from the corporate affairs ministry indicates that a total of 16,781 companies were registered in the previous month, with an aggregate paid-up capital amounting to Rs 816.14 crore.
