External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar accused Pakistan’s leadership, particularly its Army Chief Gen Asim Munir, of being driven by an “extreme religious outlook” in the wake of a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

In an interview, Jaishankar said the attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 civilians dead — most of them tourists — was carried out by Pakistan-backed terrorists who targeted victims based on their Hindu faith.

“Twenty-six people were murdered in front of their families after ascertaining their faith. To create religious discord, deliberately an element of religion was introduced,” he said.
