Government of Pakistan has decided to close its airspace for all commercial flights at Lahore and Islamabad airports

In a late-night decision, Pakistan closed its airspace to all commercial flights at Lahore and Islamabad airports, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA). However, Karachi airport remains operational.

“The country’s airspace is closed for all commercial flights at Lahore and Islamabad airports,” said the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) in a statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan announced a 48-hour airspace closure for all traffic in response to India’s Operation Sindoor, a series of military strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PAA) has officially raised its concerns with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the “serious threats” to civil aviation safety resulting from India’s “irresponsible and provocative conduct.”
