An IndiGo flight 6E2142 encountered severe hailstorm turbulence while approaching Srinagar, damaging the aircraft's nose cone while attempting to land

An IndiGo flight en route from Delhi to Srinagar experienced severe weather turbulence mid-air on Wednesday, May 21, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency with Air Traffic Control (ATC).

Flight 6E2142 encountered a hailstorm while approaching Srinagar. The incident caused visible damage to the aircraft’s nose cone, but the crew managed to safely land the aircraft at Srinagar Airport at 6.30 pm.

The cabin appeared chaotic, with overhead bins rattling and people clutching their seats in fear. Despite the frightening situation, the flight landed safely, and no official injuries have been reported so far.

While official confirmation is still awaited, initial reports suggest damage to the aircraft’s nose, possibly due to a weather-related impact during the flight.
