Priya Marathe was battling cancer since last year

Actor Priya Marathe, best remembered for her portrayal of Varsha in the popular television show Pavitra Rishta, passed away in Mumbai on Sunday, August 31, after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was just 38 years old and reportedly breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road in the early hours of Sunday. Her demise has left the Hindi and Marathi entertainment industries deeply shaken, with colleagues and fans mourning the loss of a vibrant performer.

Born and raised in Mumbai, Priya began her journey as a stand-up comedian before moving into television. She made her Marathi TV debut with Ya Sukhano Ya and went on to act in several shows, including Char Divas Sasuche and Tu Tithe Me. In Hindi television, she became a household name with her role in Pavitra Rishta and appeared in shows like Kasamh Se, Comedy Circus, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Uttaran, and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. She also explored films, featuring in projects such as Humne Jeena Seekh Liya and Ti Ani Itar.

In her personal life, Priya was married to actor Shantanu Moghe, son of veteran Marathi actor Shrikant Moghe. The couple tied the knot in 2012 and often shared glimpses of their bond on social media, which now serve as cherished memories for her fans.
