The Election Commission of India has served a formal notice to Congress leader Pawan Khera over allegations of being enrolled in more than one constituency, which is a violation of election laws. The issue came to light after discrepancies were flagged regarding his name appearing in multiple electoral rolls.
According to the notice issued by the District Election Office (DEO) of New Delhi, Khera’s registration in different constituencies has drawn scrutiny, leading the poll body to formally examine the matter. The commission has stressed that such duplication undermines the integrity of the electoral process.
The notice, issued under provisions of the Representation of the People Act, requires Khera to submit his response to the allegations by 11 am on September 8. In case of non-compliance, the Election Commission has indicated that it may proceed with necessary legal and administrative action.
