Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address BJP workers at the party headquarters in New Delhi at 6 pm on Friday, November 14 as early trends indicate a landslide victory for the NDA in Bihar. The assembly elections were held in two phases on November 6 and 11 across the state’s 243 constituencies.
According to data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the NDA is leading on 197 seats, with the BJP at 89, the Janata Dal United (JDU) at 89, and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) at 21 seats. Its smaller allies, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM-S), are leading on four seats each.
The Mahagathbandhan appears to have been routed, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leading on just 30 seats, while the Congress and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) are unlikely to open their accounts. Left parties such as the CPI (ML) Liberation and CPI (M) are leading on four and one seat, respectively.
With the NDA poised for a bigger majority, BJP Bihar unit chief Dilip Kumar Jaiswal praised incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the performance. He said voter sentiment in both phases clearly indicated trust in the NDA government and in “the world’s most popular leader, Narendra Modi,” while noting that exit polls and trends are indicative but the final mandate will confirm the verdict.
